VectorLinux Standard 5.8 Release Candidate 3

Last Saturday, November 18th 2006, the Vector Linux team officially announced the RC3 version of VectorLinux Standard v5.8. The release come with some extra features over RC2, some of them being great additions to the basic VectorLinux software collection.

We particularly enjoyed the Flash 9 Player, a long awaited Linux release promised by Adobe in the past. The distro features 3 browsers (SeaMonkey, Firefox and Opera) in order to please all users and all of them are Flash, Java and PDF ready. The mplayer plugin is also present and does a great job playing online media files.

The overall speed of the system make us sure that developers are still fond to the VectorLinux slogan: "... at the speed of light". The drivers we needed for our hardware seem to be already included; we tested a broad range of devices (USB and PCI boards) and all performed very good.
